2014 Houston Oilman's Invitational Shooting Tournament (H.O.I.S.T.)

This year marked the 18th Annual H.O.I.S.T. Tournament and 480 participants joined for another incredible event!  The 2014 tournament was held at the Westside Sporting Grounds in Katy, Texas on May 16th and 17th.  The course opened on Friday for practice and the main event took place on Saturday.  On Saturday evening, H.O.I.S.T. presented a check to The CAC for $75,000, bringing the H.O.I.S.T. contributions to $945,000!  We are grateful for the longtime support of such a generous organization that truly cares about improving the lives of sexually abused children in our community, as well as helping to reduce the number of children who are victims.  Special thanks to Lauren and Joe Byars and all the H.O.I.S.T. Committee, Board of Directors and Sponsors.  The CAC was truly honored to be a part of it!

The Children’s Assessment Center (The CAC) Friends Guild Board hosted the 6th Annual Holiday Coffee on Thursday, December 12, 2013. Ericka Bagwell, Friends Guild Board member and generous hostess, opened up her gorgeous home for this festive occasion once again to gather supporters and friends of The CAC. It was another successful Holiday Coffee event and guests opened their hearts showing incredible generosity bringing gifts and gift cards to brighten up the holidays for the teens served by The CAC.

The morning was also filled with many holiday shopping opportunities that benefited The CAC including beautiful Christmas ornaments designed by children served by The CAC. Longtime supporter of The CAC, Lisa Holthouse was in attendance with her children’s book, “It All Started With A Turtle” and generously donated 100% of the proceeds to The CAC. DruMichael Designs brought a stylish assortment of jewelry for the guests to browse donating 10% of the proceeds to The CAC, along with Debbie Porter who featured her book, “Fabulous Phebe Dreams Big” generously donating 15% of proceeds to The CAC. UrbanHippyShop showcased a divine collection of pearl jewelry designs for all the guests to enjoy and generously donated 10% of the proceeds to The CAC.

A special showcase that everyone enjoyed was the Holiday Trees donated by Cheeky Vintage, Kendra Scott, New Living and Rice Village’s Finest Merchants that were auctioned at the event. Each tree was uniquely designed for The CAC and made for fun and festive auction bidding throughout the morning! Thank you to all of the attendees for supporting The CAC during the holidays and year-round!

Black Sheep Agency’s “A Christmas Care-All” Benefiting The CAC

On December 4, 2013, Black Sheep PR Agency hosted “A Christmas Care-All” at Spring Street Studios and chose The CAC as the beneficiary of their holiday bash. Guests brought toy donations for the children served by The CAC as entry into the event. The party included: live entertainment, food trucks, spirits from St. Arnolds and various other local breweries, a photo booth, silent auction and even a “Pie in the Face Booth” for guests to enjoy tossing a pie at local Houston celebrities. Black Sheep generously donated 100% of the silent auction proceeds to The CAC! It was a festive evening filled with holiday cheer and generous guests who were excited to make a difference in the lives of the children served by The CAC. Special thanks to Black Sheep Agency for including The CAC in their holiday tradition this year!

The Children’s Assessment Center (The CAC) Friends Guild Board hosted the 5th Annual Holiday Coffee on Thursday, December 6, 2012.  Stephanie Perkins, Friends Guild Board member and generous hostess, opened up her beautiful home for this festive occasion to gather supporters and friends of The CAC.  It was another successful Holiday Coffee event and guests opened their hearts showing incredible generosity during the holiday season bringing toys, gift cards and donations for the children and teens served by The CAC.

The morning was also filled with many holiday shopping opportunities that benefited The CAC including beautiful Christmas ornaments designed by children served by The CAC.  Tiffany Natkin with Tickleprint and Natkin Cooks brought a wonderful array of stationery products, notecards with artwork from the children served by The CAC, Santa treats and delicious cake balls, and generously donated 30% of the proceeds to The CAC.  Laurel Ross represented the Elizabeth Irvine Jewelry Collection and shared the exquisite jewelry with everyone donating 10% of the proceeds to The CAC.

A big hit of the morning that had everyone’s attention was the Celebrity Tree Auction.  The three trees were designed by Kenneth Cole, Rachel Roy and Jessica Simpson and were generously donated by Jane Dale Owen.  The guests enjoyed bidding on the one-of-a-kind divine trees!

Elaine Stolte, Executive Director of The CAC, thanked everyone for attending and for their support and involvement throughout the year.  The CAC is thankful for supporters such as the guests of the Holiday Coffee who help not only spread awareness, but also encourage prevention of child sexual abuse.  Ms. Stolte mentioned that many of the children served by The CAC would not receive gifts for the holidays without the support and generosity of supporters like the guests of the coffee and the many businesses and individuals that participate in The CAC Toy Drive. 

Stephanie Perkins, gracious hostess and one of the Event Chairs for the Spirit of Spring Luncheon, along with Ursaline Hamilton, also an Event Chair for the Spirit of Spring Luncheon, reminded everyone to save the date of April 5, 2013 for the 14th Annual Spirit of Spring Luncheon and Fashion Show at the Westin Galleria.  This is the largest fundraising event for The CAC each year and Ms. Perkins encouraged all to attend.

On May 18-19, 2012, The Children’s Assessment Center was honored to be a part of the 16th Annual H.O.I.S.T. Tournament.  It was another incredible year for H.O.I.S.T. with over 450 participants joining in on the fun.  Practice rounds took place on Friday to prepare for the tournament on Saturday.  Many of the participants of the tournament come out to play year after year and are not only committed to having a great time and enjoying some friendly competition, but they are passionate about raising funds for The Children’s Assessment Center!  H.O.I.S.T. presented a check to The CAC this year for $75,000, which brings the H.O.I.S.T. contributions to $795,000!  We are grateful for the support of such a generous organization that truly cares about improving the lives of sexually abused children in our community, as well as helping to reduce the number of children who are victims.  We are especially thankful to Joe and Lauren Byars for their dedication to the mission of The CAC for over 15 years.  Congratulations to the H.O.I.S.T. Committee, Board of Directors and Sponsors on an extremely successful 2012 event!

A wonderful group of supporters in Crosby, Texas hosted the 1st Annual Jog the Journey 5K and 10K run and selected The Children’s Assessment Center as the benefiting charity for this year’s event.  The run took place on March 31, 2012 at 8:00 AM at the Crosby, Texas Fairgrounds.  After the race, there were awards, a raffle, prizes and music for all to enjoy!  It was a fun day and we greatly appreciate the generosity of our supporters in Crosby!

Golf for Greater Houston

Fluor Corporation hosted its annual Golf for Greater Houston Charity Event on March 25th and March 26th at the Sweetwater Country Club in Sugar Land, Texas.  The event Sponsor Party took place on March 25th, and the festivities continued on March 26th with the Fifth Annual Golf for Greater Houston Charity Tournament that included contests, raffles and an Awards Dinner.  The Children’s Assessment Center was chosen as one of four charity beneficiaries and was presented with a generous check for $50,000.  The other benefiting charities included Casa de Esperanza, The ARC of Fort Bend, and Blessed be Hope for Three.

The Children’s Assessment Center Friends Guild Board hosted the 4th Annual Holiday Coffee on December 9, 2011.  Ericka Bagwell, Friends Guild Board member and generous hostess, opened up her gorgeous home for this festive occasion to gather supportersand friends of The CAC.  Guests showed incredible generosity during the holiday season bringing toys, gift cards and donations for the children and teens served at The CAC.

The morning was also filled with many holiday shopping opportunities that benefited The CAC including beautiful Christmas ornaments designed by children served at The CAC.  Dr. Carolyn Farb also joined the event signing her book, Lucas Comes to America, and donating 20% of the proceeds to The CAC.  Beautiful jewelry by Shamaine Klein Designs was available for purchase including a special charm designed for the event with 50 % of the proceeds donated to The CAC.  The Deborah Colton Gallery displayed exquisite artwork throughout Ericka Bagwell’s home for purchase, with 15% of the proceeds benefiting The CAC.  Thank you to all of the attendees for supporting The CAC during the holidays and year-round!

Ralph Lauren at the Houston Galleria hosted a wonderful event on December 8th benefiting The Children’s Assessment Center.  This is the 2nd year for Ralph Lauren to host this holiday event with 15% of sales benefiting The CAC.  Debbie Martinez, CAC Board of Directors President, was one of the hostesses again this year.  The night was complete with cocktails, hors d’oeuvres and holiday shopping.  We greatly appreciate the continued support of Ralph Lauren!

The 9th Annual International Risotto Festival took place on Sunday, November 13th at the Houston Design Center from 2 – 6 PM.  This year’s culinary competition benefited The CAC.  The Risotto Festival brought together chefs from the finest restaurants in Houston to prepare their signature risotto dishes for guests to sample.  It was tough to pick a favorite, but the esteemed panel of judges selected Scotty Campbell with Viking as the 2011 Risotto Festival Winner.  Chef Scotty’s winning recipe included black truffle and porcini mushroom risotto with pecan smoked prime rib.  Delicious!  It was an entertaining afternoon with delicious food, wine, music and showroom shopping.  We enjoyed partnering with the Houston Design Center for this fun event! 

5th Annual KBR Charity Golf Tournament

The Children’s Assessment Center was excited and honored to be selected as one of the charity beneficiaries of KBR’s Fifth Annual Charity Golf Tournament.  This is the 2nd year in a row that The CAC was selected for this honor, and we are incredibly grateful for the continued support and commitment of KBR in helping child victims of sexual abuse.  The tournament was held on September 21st at Kingwood Country Club with over 500 participants.  Through generous support of the event, KBR was once again able to build on the company mission of community service and donate all proceeds raised at the event to 15 charities.  The charities selected reflect KBR’s commitment to health, education and the environment.  KBR generously awarded The Children’s Assessment Center with a check for $20,000.  Thank you KBR for this most generous donation to help provide hope andhealing to the children we serve!

Over 420 participants joined in on the fun this year, practicing and brushing up on their skills on Friday to prepare for the tournament on Saturday. Many of the participants of the tournament come out to play year after year and are not only committed to having a great time and enjoying some friendly competition, but they are passionate about raising funds for The Children’s Assessment Center! H.O.I.S.T. presented a check to The CAC this year for $75,000, which brings the H.O.I.S.T. contributions to $720,000. We are grateful for the support of such a generous organization that truly cares about improving the lives of sexually abused children in our community, as well as helping to reduce the number of children who are victims. We are especially thankful to Joe and Lauren Byars for their dedication to the mission of The CAC for over 14 years. Congratulations to the H.O.I.S.T. The Children’s Assessment Center (The CAC) Friends Guild Board hosted the 3rd Annual Holiday Coffee on December 10, 2010. Lucinda Loya, Friends Guild Board member and generous hostess, opened up her gorgeous home for this festive occasion to gather supporters and friends of The CAC. It was a perfect December morning and guests brought toys, gift cards and donations for the children and teens served at The CAC.

Mrs. Loya provided guests with a beautiful breakfast array and everyone enjoyed visiting and helping to make the children’s holidays brighter through their toy donations. Elaine Stolte, Executive Director of The CAC, thanked everyone for attending and for their support and involvement throughout the year. She also spoke about the One with Courage Campaign, The Children’s Advocacy Centers of Texas, Inc. statewide campaign centered around the courage it takes to talk about child sexual abuse. Mrs. Stolte explained how it takes tremendous strength for young victims to come forward to talk about the abuse they’ve suffered and it takes courage for adults to recognize the signs of abuse and report suspected abuse. The CAC is thankful for supporters such as the guests of the Holiday Coffee who help not only spread awareness, but also encourage prevention of child sexual abuse.

Kimberly DeLape and Alicia Smith, two of the Event Chairs for the Spirit of Spring Luncheon, reminded everyone to save the date of April 1, 2011 for the 12th Annual Spirit of Spring Luncheon and Fashion Show at the Omni Hotel. This is the largest fundraising event for The CAC each year and funds raised support the direct service programs which are critical to the hope and healing of these young victims. Thank you to all of the attendees for supporting The CAC during the holidays and year-round!
