A round of applause to James Avery Artisan Jewelry for stepping up in a big way to support The CAC’s Safe Spaces Program through a generous grant! Back in 2016, we launched the Safe Spaces Program, making a bold statement about our commitment to going the extra mile and extending assistance beyond our facility. Our focus? Providing room makeovers for clients facing extraordinary traumatic circumstances at home but unable to leave.
At the heart of the Safe Spaces Program lies the replacement of trauma-tainted items with new, safe, and non-triggering ones. This initiative recognizes that, for children living in spaces where they were abused, memories associated with physical objects can hinder their healing process. The invaluable support from partners like James Avery Artisan Jewelry enables us to overcome obstacles on children’s paths to a clearer and brighter future.
As the program celebrates its seventh year, our dedication to addressing the alarming statistics of child sexual abuse within homes remains unwavering. The crucial need for secure environments is evident, given that 84% of sexual victimization of children under 12 occurs in residences, and 71% of assaults on children aged 12-17 happen in a residential setting. Unfortunately, in our community, child abuse rates are escalating, emphasizing the urgency to break the cycle of abuse.
The Safe Spaces Program plays a pivotal role in this mission. With the generosity of James Avery Artisan Jewelry, we are creating safe, supportive, and transformative spaces that promote healing where it matters most—at home. Your support creates an immediate and lasting change in a child’s life. Small changes transform trauma-triggering spaces into sanctuaries where children can feel safe and supported.
A million thanks to James Avery Artisan Jewelry for joining hands to create a brighter future for the children we serve.
