Internship Opportunities
Undergraduate Internships
Undergraduate interns have the opportunity to work in the Activity Center, Training Department and other CAC Departments. Desired majors include: HDFS, Psychology, Criminal Justice, Criminology, Social Work, Forensics, or related Public Service Majors.
Training Center & Activity Center:
To become a direct service intern in the CAC Activity Center, you must:
- Be at least 18 years old, not in high school, and have a valid driver’s license, government-issued ID, or a social security card.
- Attend and complete a scheduled CAC & Child Advocates Inc. Volunteer Training. To register, click here.
- You will be given an application to fill out and submit.
- Undergo a criminal and CPS background check.
- In addition, you must successfully complete an internship interview with our Activity Center staff.

CARE Program:
We welcome bachelor’s-level interns seeking experience in a community mental health setting. Ideal candidates are pursuing degrees in Psychology, Criminal Justice, Social Work, Human Development & Family Studies (HDFS), or related public service fields. CARE Interns offer consistent, compassionate support to clients transitioning from Central Intake to therapy and assist with in-person Outcome Measurement Surveys.

Graduate Level Internships
The clinical internship requires a minimum of 16-24 hour/week commitment for a minimum one academic school year, or two semesters. Training experiences are tailored to the training needs of the student and program requirements. Weekly supervision is provided by a licensed clinician. Doctoral Level Internships
The Therapy and Psychological Services Division of The Children’s Assessment Center has an APPIC accredited Doctoral Psychology Internship Program. The Internship runs from August 1st to July 31st, and we accept two Interns. You are welcome to apply through APPIC and the normal match process.
